Standard springs are made of carbon steel. We use stainless-steel springs for our GR and GRST oil seals made from FKM rubber. In some rare cases, an O-ring is even used as a spring element. Standard PTFE lip seals are not fitted with springs.

Does it mean the seal stops the leakage completely? Well, on the practical grounds yes because there is no ‘visible leakage’.
Once you have selected the most suitable seal available, considering the environment, temperature, shaft speed, pressure, lubrication availability, as well as the size, of course, the seal should be stored adequately and then fitted properly. Here are a few suggestions that could help:-
Use a piece of wood to scrape off all traces of the old gasket from the head and cover. If total removal proves difficult, use a broad screwdriver blade, but take care not to scratch the seating.
In addition to providing a reliable seal, the 40mm rubber gasket also helps to dampen vibrations and reduce noise, improving the overall performance and longevity of the equipment. Its durable construction ensures long-term reliability and minimizes the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.
Meanwhile, rubber-cased oil seals are used under conditions where a metal-cased seal can fail (for example, because of thermal expansion). Unlike the metal-cased type, these seals do not rust. Moreover, they can seal a lightly damaged housing better than metal-covered seals since, in high temperatures, rubber can provide a more stable sealability.
